Fair trade is the strength of our economy and builds strong relationships with our allies. My son Daniel, graduated from Thunderbird School of International Business, located in this congressional district. On the base of the sculpture in the campus center is this statement, “Borders frequented by trade seldom need soldiers”. Instead of withdrawing from the world stage, I support the updating of existing trade agreements to better reflect the reality of the 21st century and to negotiate future deals that don’t give away jobs unnecessarily, but focus on enable enabling American workers to compete in new employment opportunities”. I support aggressive programs of retraining for displaced workers. We already live in a global world. We cannot retreat from reality. That train left the station long ago. We simply must do everything possible to be the leaders of that global world.
